Review: Loreal Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Shampoo and Conditioner

I got a free sample of these products to try from Loreal.  This is perfect because I have been having major issues with staticy hair all winter!  I used them both during the same shower since they are meant to be used in that manner.  Here are my thoughts:

Shampoo: It lathers well, but smells like a cross between soap and hairdye.  Very unappealing, AND the smell stayed with me for a few days afterward (despite having used several other scented hair products!).  I didn't notice any difference in my hairs smoothness after rinsing this product out.  I seriously doubt I would ever buy more due to the smell.

Conditioner: It has a creamy consistency, spreads evenly on hair, and is thick enough that it doesn't drip off.  Unlike the shampoo, this conditioner has a clean fresh scent that I did not find objectionable.  My hair was noticeably smoother after I rinsed this product out!  I am seriously considering buying more of this conditioner.

First impression of the results was quite positive, I had NO STATIC after applying two leave in products and letting my hair air dry as usual.  I have since gone back to my usual hair products (since I only had enough samples for one shower) but continue to experience less static.  Could be because winter is coming to an end, but it might also be lasting effects of these products, its hard to tell.

I do want to warn you that this product line has a similar name to another product line of Loreal's.  The other line is called Ultimate Straight and it also comes in black and pink bottles.  I have no idea who decided THAT was a good idea!  So be careful you buy the right thing if you are interested in trying this!

PS-someone once suggested I spray static guard on my hairbrush and then brush my hair for the static.  Turns out there are pretty flammable ingredients in static guard (like propane), so I really don't recommend that!  If you need help with staticy or dry hair, comment below and I will get back to you!

I am afraid to try any more products that are claiming to 'do' something for my hair. I was using Garnier Fructise Fall Fight to try and help the amount of hair I was losing after starting high blood pressure meds...Lisinopril, then Cozaar. The more I tried, the more hair I had when I brushed, combed, or shampooed. I stopped using the product and a leave in conditioner by the same company and I am no longer losing so much hair! Has anyone else had a problem such as this?

I have never had that happen with a personal care product no-BUT I have had many counterintuitive reactions to medications! Its scary and frustrating! Thank you for sharing this experience here so that others may be warned to watch carefully how that product works! I am sorry I cannot recommend a product for thinning hair as my hair is extremely dense and I haven't used any of those products. You "could" try volumizing or thickening products to make your hair appear fuller. I can say that many people have adverse reactions to products containing keratin, so you may wish to avoid those (its been a trend to include that in products for a while). Upon doing research, Garnier Fall Fight does not contain that, but it does contain caffeine which I found odd. You might want to also try low or no sulfate shampoos-they are less harsh on hair. Some people don't like them because they don't really suds up though. That might cause you to scrub harder and break more hair...its a conundrum! Another thought is the idea of making your own hair washing products-there are recopies online. I know baking soda is a popular ingredient and it will make your scalp more alkaline which is the preferred state of your body (most people are too acidic). I can see how soothing your scalp might encourage hair growth. Just my thoughts! Let me know if you find something that helps!

Here are the product pages for the fall fight shampoo and conditioner in case you wanted to write reviews on them:
